In the fine print
Conditions from Ampere's own terms, pricing pages and acceptable-use policy that don't fit in a table. Read in full and checked by hand.
Pricing
- The price list charges for an outgoing international SWIFT transfer, but the terms do not describe outgoing SWIFT: coverage for sending outside the UK and EU/EEA is left unclear by the bank's own documents.
Payments & transfers
- Outgoing transfers are described in the terms as SEPA, SEPA Instant and UK Faster Payments to recipients in the UK and the EU/EEA.
- Incoming SWIFT transfers are accepted from the UK, the EU/EEA and the rest of the world, subject to sanctions restrictions.
Business activity
- Beyond the sector categories listed as denied, the terms also bar securities brokers and investment businesses of any kind (securities, derivatives, shares, options) and CFD brokers or dealers.
- Auctions, pawn shops and credit repair services are prohibited.
- Live streaming and broadcasting, file sharing services, and selling likes or followers for social media are prohibited.
- Products or services tied to religious, political or social campaigning are prohibited, as are surrogacy services and tattoo parlours.
- The prohibited list is open ended: the terms reserve the right to bar any other category, product or service at the company's sole discretion.
Opening an account
- Business onlyAmpere's own pages disagree on where the director of a UK company must live: several state that a UK or EU based director is accepted, while a dedicated FAQ answer states that you have to be a UK resident. Treat EU residency as unconfirmed and check with the bank before applying.
Countries & residency
- Personal onlyThe requirement for the personal account is unambiguous on both of Ampere's market sites: UK residency for the UK account and EU residency for the EU account.
Will Ampere actually accept you?
Acceptance depends on where your company is registered, where its owners live, where your money flows - and your sector. The wizard checks Ampere's published rules on all of them, and shows you the alternatives too.
