Limits

  • There is no limit on how much you can send, receive or keep. What is capped is the online platform: a transfer there runs from a minimum of £10 to a maximum of £500,000, and anything larger is arranged by phone.
  • Funding the account from online banking is capped at $10,000, and only on selected US accounts.
  • There is no limit on how much you can send, receive or keep in the wallets.
  • Card and ATM limits depend on where you live: EU residents get €18,000 per card transaction and per day and €600 at ATMs, UK residents £15,000 and £500.

Payments & transfers

  • The euro account is located in Spain, and works for sending and receiving across the whole SEPA area.
  • Local USD accounts are currently available only on selected US accounts.

  • living in USIn the US, Currencies Direct Inc. holds money transmitter licences in Arizona, California, Florida, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Utah and Washington (NMLS ID 1232445) and is a FinCEN-registered MSB; the remaining US states are served under sponsorship by Cross River Bank.

  • Regulated in the UK as an Electronic Money Institution by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 900669); the UK entity is Currencies Direct Ltd.
  • In the EU it operates through Currencies Direct Spain EDE SL, an EMI authorised by the Bank of Spain (registration 6716), with a Portugal branch under Banco de Portugal licence 7972.
  • In South Africa it is an FSCA-authorised Financial Service Provider (FSP number 43493).
  • In Canada it is registered with FINTRAC as a Money Services Business (M08690900) and with the Bank of Canada as a Payment Service Provider (RPS0002406).
